Endorse The Act to Leave No Child Behind
(H.R. 936/S. 448)
The Act to Leave No Child Behind is a comprehensive children's
bill, introduced in the 107th congress, that lays out a vision
of how we can and must care for our children in the 21st Century.
The act puts all of the pieces together because it is pointless
to provide food for a child but not give him a decent home, and
it is useless to give a child a good education if she has no health
insurance and is sick and misses school. We know what children
and families need and we know what works. The Act to Leave No
Child Behind gives the President, the Congress, and all Americans
the opportunity to show that children ARE our national priority,
not just a campaign promise.

Wednesdays in Washington and Wednesdays At
Home
Passing this legislation will require a sustained and focused
effort. That is why the Children's Defense Fund is organizing
a massive mobilization of people from all 50 states to participate
in Wednesdays in Washington and Wednesdays At Home
an outgrowth o of the 1964 "Wednesdays in Mississippi"
when interracial teams of women gathered in Mississippi every
Wednesday to bear witness for racial injustice and to build bridges
between white and black women across income and racial lines.
Every Wednesday, advocates will be on Capitol Hill carrying the
message that we must Leave No Child Behind®.
At the same time, supporters will be carrying the message "At
Home" to their state Capitols and to the home district offices
of their elected officials. More
