New York, N.Y.–Each summer, The Children’s Defense Fund and our CDF Freedom Schools® partners gather thousands of children and youth, and college students committed to making a difference across the country. We sing these lyrics, inspired by the words of Ella Josephine Baker, because we cannot remain silent as black lives are cut short with no end and no justice in sight.

All children deserve a safe and successful passage into adulthood, regardless of their race. We, The Children’s Defense Fund-New York (CDF-NY), remain a tireless advocate to strengthen and deepen the relationship between community and police, particularly in schools. We cannot allow another Black life to be extinguished because of structural racism in this country’s justice system.

Today, we ask that you stand in solidarity with our partners: the people of New York. Join thousands of New Yorkers at Foley Square at 5:30pm today to say #ThisStopsToday.
